Required Fowling

(1) One Regulation-sized NFL Football
(20) Twenty Regulation Bowling pins
(2) Regulation Fowling Lanes measuring 42" x 96"
How Do I Get
Started?
Acquisition and setup of a full Fowling
set, to get you started at your next tailgate, is easier than
you might think. The regulation fowling lanes can be built with
a minimal investment in some lumber at your nearest Home Depot
or Lowe's. Full plans for the build and assembly of you
own set of Fowling Lanes are detailed below. Acquiring the
bowling pins can also be fairly easy. Begin by contacting your
local bowling alleys to ask if you might purchase their bad or
cracked pins. Over the life cycle of the typical bowling pin,
the collision forces they experience during recreational and
league play eventually lead to cracking at the base of the pin.
Although these pins are no longer useful to a regular bowling
alley, they are perfect for some Tailgate Fowling at you nearest
stadium parking lot. Just call around, ask to speak to a
manager, and find out if you can buy these bowling pins from
your local bowling alley. You might also find bowling pins
available on e-bay, but the shipping cost on moving these pins,
at a weight of 3.5lbs each, generally makes it cost prohibitive.
The last thing you need is a regulation sized NFL football,
which should be easy to locate. What NFL fan doesn't have one of
those handy?
The Field of Play
The two Fowling lanes are placed on a
level surface at a distance of 32 feet apart. Players may carry
a measuring tape, a measuring chain or a length of rope that is
exactly 32 feet to assist in setup. Ten regulation-sized bowling
pins are then arranged on each platform in the standard 10-pin
bowling configuration. Men throw from behind the back edge of
the fowling lanes, women throw from behind the front edge. Once
setup is complete, you're ready to begin!
